about WIDOWS SONS

History of the widows sons
Origins of the Widows Sons (International)
- The Beginning: The Widows Sons concept and logo were conceived in 1998 in Chicago, Illinois, by Master Mason Carl Davenport (founder) and Armando Nunez (President).
- The Name: The name derives from Masonic lore. In the legend of Hiram Abiff, he is described as the “widow’s son”. A central purpose of the group is to look after the widows and orphans of departed Masons.
- Motto: Members operate under the motto “Mason First, Then a Widows Son.”
Culture and Activities
- Not an Outlaw MC: While the group wears motorcycle vests (cuts) with club-style patches, they are a Masonic or Motorcycle Riders Association (MRA), not a “one-percent” or outlaw motorcycle club.
- Charity: Members focus on raising funds for Masonic and community charities, including participating in the annual Grand Master’s Ride.
- Fellowship: The chapter hosts regular rides and events, such as the annual State Rally and “Branding” celebrations.
